Add your Voice: No Impunity for Rape

On November 1, 2014, residents of Tabit, Darfur, Sudan reported the mass rape of women and girls in the town by hundreds of Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers from a nearby garrison. Since then, the Government of Sudan has repeatedly denied access to UNAMID personnel to investigate and has intimidated victims and witnesses; UNAMID has demonstrated that it is neither able to protect civilians nor investigate crimes by the government of Sudan against civilians; and the victims have not received appropriate medical care or psychosocial counseling.

Act for Sudan has issued an appeal to President Obama that he and the UN Security Council order a prompt independent investigation into the acts by the SAF in Tabit, subsequent actions by the Government of Sudan, and all related UNAMID actions and communications on the ground, to the UN and to the public.
