Easy actions for Sudan as the humanitarian crisis grows

Sudan remains the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today. The U.S has determined that genocide and war crimes are taking place.  Famine has been declared in multiple locations in Sudan.

Please take one or more of these easy actions to help ensure that Sudan is not forgotten. It is vital to get food to the starving people of Sudan, especially now, when foreign aid is in peril.

  1. Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Representative. Suggested message:
    “This is [your name] from [city, state] calling to ask Representative [name] to urge the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan.”
  2. Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senator #1. Suggested message:
    “This is [your name] from [city, state] calling to ask Senator [name] to urge the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan.”
  3. Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senator #2. Suggested message:
    “This is [your name] from [city, state] calling to ask Senator [name] to urge the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan.”
  4. Call the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, James Reisch, at 202-224-2752. Suggested message:
    “This is [your name] from [city, state] calling to ask Senator Reisch to use his power as the Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to urge the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan.”
  5. Call the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Jeanne Shaheen, at (202) 224-2841. Suggested message:
    “This is [your name] from [city, state] calling to ask Senator Shaheen to use her power as the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to urge the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan.”

Please take a few minutes today to take these easy steps to help the 12 million displaced and 24.6 million (half the country) experiencing acute hunger in Sudan
